Caught in the Act

Caught in the Act

A Poem by Danielle Calleo
"

CW: Suicide

"

Little pockets of air

that came from her lungs

become travelers in a foreign land

where there is none

and up they go

stopping only when they tangle into her hair

as they dabble away from the body once called home

the body thats sinking to the part where light can’t reach

ready to sleep until it doesn’t exist anymore

a hand interrupts

an intruder, a masked entity

that knows nothing of her intentions

to ignore the sunrise

a selfish act takes priority over one even more so

she pictures her brother’s face

feels the richness of the sun’s fingers on her skin

caught like a fish but she is able to breathe

she grabs the angel who holds her

and weeps.
