Runaway Slave

Runaway Slave

A Poem by Danielle Nicole
"

Remembering Black History Month. Realizing that slavery still exists- it may be different circumstances, but its there.

"

Runaway slave;
Beautiful and brave.
Finding a way,
To live another day.

She fights for her life,
With all of her might.
So now she runs away-
To the Railroad to prevail;
To the Underground her feet sail,
She knows this must not fail.

Underground she hides,
From house to house,
Always running about.
In a basement or a shack,
Fleeing from dogs whom attack.

But she doesn't show fear,
And from what I hear-
The runaway slave, Lives again.
