This is This

This is This

A Poem by Daniel DelMonacco

Now that it has be done

And everything’s been said,

I’ve decided to hunt for a meal,

That I have never been fed.

Now I can be honest

And it can all be read…

I wanted you to love me

But you lust me instead.

You took what was left of me

And didn’t leave a shred.

I gave you my heart

And I shared with you my bed.

Let you taste my soul,

Look inside my head

And all I’ve got to say is,

I’ll be damned if I’m alone when I’m dead.

You questioned my intentions

When I knew we were to be wed.

Your letters to me were simple.

Mine were always red.

So now worry about yourself

Cause my love for you has fled.

You’re no longer in my future

And I’m no longer on your thread.

It’s easy to find a girl

But it’s hard to find an equal.

Our love is like this poem,

It will never have a sequel.

I found your poem funny, in a way. (I hope this didn't actually happen to you) It does seem like the thing that influences our happiness the most is our relationships with friends and family, especially those we admit into our heart. When someone displays lack of love and acts dishonorably, it really hurts, prompting us to lash back in word or deed.
