A Poem by Daniel DelMonacco

Hunted down

by this Fred Bear of a day

Can no longer hide

the words I've needed to say

To this impervious dream

I have been a whorin'

But like my favorite whiskey

these tears are a pourin'

Eager to swallow down life

Soon regretting not tasting

where would I be now

without those years of wasting

Compensation over contribution

this has been my greed.

Fill your belly with coins

and you too shal bleed.

So now I take smaller bites,

savour each morsel I chew

and spend what I don't have

for the people I do.
