My Way

My Way

A Poem by Daniel DelMonacco

I know this will be over Soon enough I know this will end I know how far down that road goes I just don't know the bend. You're afraid I might leave you I'm afraid that you might stay. And yet again, I won't have my way. Tell me I'm the one you want, Love will not suffice This is not a game of cards It's a roll of the dice. The day's grown old The end is nigh Yet we delay. And still, I won't have my way. Speak of the unforgiven Fear not the flame Speak of the heroine So I will speak of the dame. Now don't hold back, For there is Nothing to shame. I may not have you Always But I have you today. So tonight With you, My dear, Let me have my way.
