ALL IS NOT LOST

ALL IS NOT LOST.

"The flower girl" as she was affectionately called. She got that moniker because she was frequently used as a flower girl in wedding ceremonies. She came from an afluent family. Lily was also brainy. She had one sibling, Enoch. Everything seemed to be going on well until one day kismet struck her. This worst day of her life.


She and her mother were watching television in the living room while Enoch and the father had gone shopping. The mother got a call. "Hello, please are you mrs. Johnson?" The mother responded, "yes, please who are you and how may i be of help?". "Well, your husband and your son have been involved in a horrible accident. We're rushing them to St. Mark's hospital". Lily and her mum hurriedly went to the hospital. The doctor in-charge invited them to his office. He asked the mum, "are you his wife and the mother of the boy?". The mum nodded. "We are very sorry we could not save your husband and son. They died-on-arrival. We are very sorry", the doctor told them. They broke into tears. Lily's mum collapsed. She could not make it back to the living.

The agony of Lily begins.


Her father was in bankruptcy so all his belongings had to be sold off to defray his debt. No family member was ready to cater for her. This little orphan had to make ends meet. She had to sleep on the streets at nights. Her aspiration to be a doctor was now in shambos. A night volunteer saw her and asked her, "why are you sleeping on the streets?". She explained everything to him. He, together with a colleague to took her to their house to spend the night. They helped her with the paperwork and she was taken to an orphanage home.


Lily was loved by many 'cause of her undying hope, determination and her religious life. She would wake up at dawn to pray and read the scriptures. The bible strengthened her. Her mantra was "All is not lost". She strived for success.

One fine morning while she was sweeping, a couple visited them. They had brought to the orphanage some assorted goods. After the presentation, Lily was asked to pray. Her prayer touched the heart of the couple. After everything, they called her and conversed with her. During her conversation with the them, she told them of her story- how she lost her family on the same day. The wife was a medical doctor who has been struggling together with the his husband to bear a child for ten years after their marriage. They adopted Lily.


The turning point of her life had just began.


Lily went to school. They took her under their wings and mentored her. Now Lily is a medical doctor. She's not only that but also a motivational speaker and a philantropist.
