eyes of the soberA Poem by dani suzanne corke
my eyes began to open like a book
seeing the street life in a brand new light shattered dreams from which I rose broken hearts from which i was revived rock bottom was all it took drugs can make you feel just right fascinating as a thorny rose intoxicated living leaves you deprived Your hooked to it its toxic charm addicted to its warmth and confidence addiction became stuck like glue stuck to you like the past read my poem for I'm trying to send out an alarm its effects are intense coming downs like a lifetime flue a test to see how long you last the addicted ; our sick we are everywhere from the rich to the poor in your back alley to the lake side were all around even in schools the addicted ; once we were slick we'd steal and lie just for a lil more the addictions set our morals to blind looking like a bunch of fools i was addicted and i rose above came out of hells shadow its reason for our devastation reason for the infestation i had to find with myself a greater love my spirit began to rise from below fears of what life's like with out my addiction i'm now living , now with a new fascination once an addict and now i'm clean i see more clear and feel what life's meant to mean came along way from being sick to begin to heal found new reasons to dream to live beyond my fear god bless the things I've seen i found a way to once again feel
