CHRISTMAS GIFT…?

CHRISTMAS GIFT…?

A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

CHRISTMAS GIFT…?

“Mommy where is Santa?” I hear him ask so much
“Mommy what is Christmas; who sings jingle bells?”
“Mommy why is Christmas always so far away?”
“Mommy I want presents " Mommy what does this say?”

Johnathan Santa’s coming he has a ways to go
Johnathan Christmas is a time of giving
and a time of joy

Everyone sings jingle bells
and most of all silent night
because on this day
a special star
was born this night

He taught us how to give
because to give is better
than to receive

Johnathan shut your eyes
it’s time to go to sleep
because Santa Claus is watching
and Jesus is your night light

So as you sleep
in slumber

You really need night fright
Santa knows your good
and Jesus loves your smile

So think about the moon
the stars all the while
I will sit alone and pray
for your future and that of others
as I sit and ask god,

“How did You know I’d make such a good mother?
You have given me an angel
blonde hair and brown eyes aside

You gave me my savior
he was Your only child

Our children mean so much to us”

I feel for those this night
who cannot hold or listen to
the words of an innocent life

“Mommy where is Santa?”
Johnathan close your eyes
“Mommy I do love you.”
I sit and wipe a tear from my eye

A beautiful poem. Children ask the best questions. If we had the eyes and hope of a child. The world would be a better place. Thank you for the excellent poem.
