Calling Out

Calling Out

A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

CALLING OUT

Sometime in my life I made a pact

With someone I loved who has long since passed
That I would not fear that which must come

But ever since her passing
I have feared much

I feel like an image was placed in my head
That has filled my mind with such mortal dread

I only hope that when I go there
She will be with me and holding my hand

I once had a chance to do what I thought right
But that had changed since he came into my life

But as he gets older and as do I,
I feel like something is coming tonight

I know it’s just fear and that it’s nothing more
I wish someone was here to hold my hand
And tell me, “It’s OK Dani”
