A Rock and a Hard Place

A Rock and a Hard Place

A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE

I’m still a member of my church
But the other offers so much more

I still love the family I have
But I needed a change

I needed a new plan

My parents aren’t upset
As far I know they’re all for freedom
Freedom of choice and freedom to do

Whatever I feel is the right thing to do

I know God loves me, I know that he cares;
Hell, Jesus wandered from land to land

So why can’t I make a choice
To change my mind to lend my voice

To another place that may be able to use
The talents I have the things that I did

I still donate time when I can
To my other family they helped me

I understand

They did so much for me and I will continue
To donate what I can to help spread the gospel

So why do I feel so much guilt
Why can’t the Devil just leave me alone?
