A Reason in Rhyme

A Reason in Rhyme

A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

A REASON IN RHYME

It didn’t matter who I was, God had sent me a gift of love
He knew the day the time and hour that I would bring forth a precious child

I was scared the doctors tried for many years to make me deny
That I would have a child of my own but God intervened and there you were

I was afraid I thought I’d lose you I tried my best to have faith that you
Would be ok and so you were you came into earth a precious boy

They gave me facts and figures and more that you’d be challenged like your mom
But you are so much more than they expected you are my precious gift from heaven

I love you so with all my heart; a friend once told me never to give up
And though I believe her now as I did then, my faith is renewed as I make new friends

Old ones too have come back to me you have a large extended family
Your father may not think me wise to do what I did, but I had no choice

If he cared as much as he said, he would be here and not give a damn
About the things that he was taught, that I skipped town all on my own

There was a reason and there is a time so for now, this story will be continued next time
