A Question

A Question

A Poem by Danielle Calhoun

A QUESTION

I do not know why I keep thinking:

Something is wrong, something is missing
I have everything I could ever need;
Why can’t these thoughts just let me be

I feel so angry and I want to cry
I talk to my friends and then I feel fine

But the thoughts continue to creep
Up in my head even as I sleep

What is the reason? Why doesn’t medicine work?
What have I done to feel so alone?

Is it just me all in my head?

Or is it something deeper,
Something other than that?
