One by One

One by One

A Poem by ghjckukc offcuo

She sits in the attic, counting the raindrops that hit the roof
One by one, for not a single one shall be in vain

She stands by the river counting the stones
One by one, for not a single one shall be in vain

She lays in the garden, counting all the ants
One by one, for not a single one shall be in vain

She says that this is how it must be
That everything shall have it’s purpose
Even if it is only to be the fascination of a little girl

Her joy of seeing each and every one of them would be enough
Surely the gods must bless them for that
And it shall be her purpose to fulfill their purpose

And so she runs through the fields, counting all the blades of grass
One by one, for not a single one shall be in vain

She spends her entire life, counting all the little things
One by one, for not a single thing shall ever be in vain
