Reflection

A Poem by ghjckukc offcuo

The trees sing hauntingly this night,
that face,
those eyes

Embraced in the epitome of an unveiled fallacious hope,
the stinging of the cold rain,
the burning of the cold wind

My clothes are soaked,
my head is reeling,
the water is collecting beneath me

On my hands and knees,
bent over like a dog,
staring into the face of my killer

That grin that won't go away,
he taunts me,
mocking me from the water's surface

My heart is pounding,
my ears are ringing,
my stomach is churning and it threatens with heaves

Lighting flashes overhead,
our eyes light up and we come together,
forming ripples that betray his smile

My breath is heavy as my lungs fill up,
coughing doesn't empty them,
I am not able nor willing to struggle as he holds me down

That face,
those eyes;
The trees' haunting song fades away;
That grin was mine.

Wonderful! I love how you portrayed the inner voice of the writer.

This is an amazing poem. The descriptive words are vague, yet they put off a powerful feeling. The other thing I truly love about this poem is how you're writing about betrayal at the highest extent, self-betrayal. All I've got to say is great job!
