Crystal River

Crystal River

A Poem by Dan Herah

Some say from heaven I grow

Others show I am the child of snow

I carry with me the power of life

The sea is said to be my wife

I hold on to the power for people to use

So many until now only abuse

I feed the sea from my own liquor

The sky nourishes me making me thicker

I flow crystal clear under the sun

Only down the path I run

When I am born to be

I find my path down carrying earth with me

I own golden swimmers

Toads with skin that shimmers

Eggs yet to be hatched

Adventurous timbers that detached

The fluid the heart’s desire

The ruminants of a deadly fire

I own it all

Still my life is all a down fall

When I die I leave earth broken

Leave it in thirst, hot, smoken’

I give up my life to the sea and sky

Where I live everywhere low and high

No more restrained to the ground

Able to fight those who hurt me all around

I can destroy those who made me dirty

And others who used me for a little flirty

I exist for your eyes to achieve

Evidence of God’s wonders, to believe
