The Surface Beneath

The Surface Beneath

A Poem by Lizzy I

The truth is my wide-eyed desire
Lies, the fair weather friend
For reality lifts out hearts higher
And lets us be known to others
No mask covers my face
To hide who I am with shame
No tape seals my lips
So that i may not speak the truth
No wall will surround my heart
To be safe from the agony of falling in love
Because I am a person out there
Fighting for life in the real world
Struggling to learn who I am
And experiencing
The real me

I luv how you express a truth about knowing ones's inner self, without restricting true desires. Many seem to be so undesiring to know the truth.

Beautifully written!
