Chapter 3

          “Kai…”

          The “cat” stepped forward and began to wash her face licking away her tears much like a real cat would. “Come now Sasha, I’m here now let’s cheer up dear,” he said. His form blurred as shifting to that of a forest bred fox. “I never left you my love I don’t know why you insist on believing that I do,” he told her lifting her face to look him in the eye with one paw.

          She laughed bitterly at the irony of a fox making her look him in the eye telling her to believe in him. “You never left me huh?” she asked bitterly, “If you never left me then why am I sitting here bloody, bruised, and crying while he’s gone. He’s missing Kai, he has been for days, probably weeks by now and what have you done to find him? Nothing” she sneered before staggering off.

          Kai sat where he was slack jawed and confused. “What do you mean he’s missing?”

          “I mean he went hunting one day and never came back,” she said beginning to cry silently as her steady pace became ragged. “Sasha? Sasha stop,” Kai called after her turning to chase her down the hall way…
