chapter 1A Chapter by Dancer
She walked down the empty hallways one after the other. The hollow pit in her stomach filled with dread as she passed doorway after doorway. Each was locked respectively and would not yield even to a skeleton key. Slowly, like a rosebud blooming, cuts opened and blood trickled down her arm like ribbons leaving a pattern on the ground behind her like a trail of breadcrumbs. The pain worked its way into her consciousness befriending the regret and dread with sorrow and loneliness. As she walked tears pooled in her eyes slowly trickling down her face to mingle with the blood like relief giving rain. Biting her lip she tried to force her emotions back into their metaphorical box in her mind. The hollowness didn't return and she cried harder, sobbing silently her face as blank as a fresh sheet of paper. She had to keep walking no matter how much she wanted to pull out a knife or sit and sob openly, she had to find him before time ran out... © 2009 DancerAuthor's Note
