Putting On A Mask

Putting On A Mask

A Poem by grey

putting on a mask
is a daunting task
but if I feel
then all of this is real
you tell me to open my eyes
so that I may realize
all that is around me
that which I feel but cannot see
I grasp
and gasp
in the ocean
thrown into unwilled motion
I say that I do not desire
to hear the words of a liar
but I lie most of all
for I put on a mask for all
I bandage my knees
saying I fell from the trees
I am dreaming to be free
while I drown in the sea
I raise my hand
to be pulled t land
but this sign you will ignore
and I will fight no more
so I will sink in the sea
the freedom crashing before me

This is an amazing poem. The rhyme scheme is awesome. Very beautifully written. I know what it is like to hide behind a mask of happiness always hiding my feelings and pretending I am ok. Great job here.
