Rebirth

Rebirth

A Poem by Dana Marie

Last night, I awoke.

No one else had even made an attempt.

And the morning light; my eyes choke.

Fluttering lashes, hair unkept-

I breathe in the freedom,

it tastes like lonliness;

Exhale the seclusion,

it escapes like homliness.

I twist and turn.

I try to sleep again.

But we never learn.

Change is what has been.
