Home Away From Home

Home Away From Home

A Poem by Dana Marie

The noise is growing distant

As the current makes its way

The atmospheres resistant

As we head for better days

But there are shadows in the water

And it is ripping at the seams

All the sons and daughters

Letting free their stifled screams

Crying for resistance

Building an empire

Of popsicle sticks and chewing gum

Down where the tide has left, will come

wash away desire

create a new empire

Of documents and less discussed ideas
