Secondhand Affection

Secondhand Affection

A Poem by Dana Marie

I hope you’re heartless because then at least there would be some consolation
Each of your breaths is just a space in desolation

But smile for me baby
I need a little romance,
Dance with me, swing with me?
Love doesn’t deserve a chance!
Not when it’s so hopeless.

I really hope your blind because then I wouldn’t feel so disgusting
And every loving look well it wouldn’t mean a thing.

Come in a little closer.
I need a little time.
Wrap around a poser,
Because tonight is just a dime
In a world of quarters.
