Life Raft

Life Raft

A Poem by Dana Marie

If the blind led the blind at least we wouldn't be so biased

we'd follow those who sounded right rather than those who looked the nicest

average is never good enough is it?

right is never quite enough is it?

Expectations are the default of man

love is the only thing unplanned

and yet  I can't seem to dip my toes in the water

like I'm stepping onto glass

I've been raised by laws and order

there is no surprise in my utopia

no reason to take the risk

the water is far too cold because no one else is swimming
