dawn...

dawn...

A Poem by Jane Olivia Davis
"

the worst feeling in the world...

"

the dawn breaks through

on yet another day unfinished

the shallowness of the night

floods my conscience

as the swirling changing hues

guide my path

carefully i follow

finding my way home

cursing the light  that burns the empty

memories into my heart as i fight to

make them fade...

slowly, yet swiftly the golden light

breaks through the blues

stealing the last moments of darkness away from me

casting a solemn shadow on my hopeless adventure

while illuminating the realization of the day ahead of me--

fumblimg for the key

fumbling with the lock

fumbling with my own hands

i stage my entrance

i find my words

i breathe...breathe...breathe

one last moment

i quietly fall into the house

i plead...plead...plead

desperate for the house to be quiet...

hearing the hum of the television

the smell of fresh coffee mixes

with the unmistakeable stench of cigarette smoke alcohol and guilt

that bathes my body....

i am met with her face

A powerful poem. The poem struggle to make a day to return to another hell was written strongly in your words. So many statements made this poem a very good read. I'm glad you found peace in the end. A excellent poem.
