sway...

sway...

A Poem by Jane Olivia Davis
"

for her...because i see it to rarely but watch every time...

"

your dark hair

a beautiful mess

always standing alone off to one side...

your eyes

almost seeming independent from each other

fight to focus as you stumlbe to find your glasses on the nightstand...

your body sways

ever so subtle on our bed

like a boat floating on water disrupted by the wake...

i watch you

i laugh

i know, my love! i know...

breathing slowly,

sighing deeply,

she, without words, forfeits her internal battle to just lie back down for

just...

     a....

          few...

                    minutes.....

and rises up stumbling from our little bedroom

still watching

still laughing

i wait to catch her perfect naked form in my arms

i hold her sweet

i pet her soft

i sing her awake as she watches me

                             she laughs at me

her dark hair a perfect mess

her sleepy eyes, fluttered and unfocused

she kisses me with morning breath
