Want

Want

A Poem by danalyn

It goes more than teenage yearning
The simplistic wishing for kisses and hugs
For someone to buy flowers and brush your hair
To take you to dinner and say "I love you"

But it goes to searching for a human connection
Moreso than the familial obligation of your parents
Or one by fate with your friends
But the love shared with another human person, for the
Connection and affection that are powerful than life itself

Through every gesture and memory shared
Every lithe touch against the small of your back
Feelings of reassurance, pride, protectiveness, love, admiration
One found in an absolute stranger

Stranger hands tracing along teary streaks
And murmuring soft worries, asking "why"
Whose heart grows heavy with absolute devotion
The way angels are to the god above

One who wishes to hear the world bustling underneath
To travel through the crevices of your mind without stopping
To worship, to cry for, to care for without fail
From your first date to your last breath

To find that one person is turmoil in itself
Wanting it is worsening the destruction within
Yet keeping it seems so easy for it is everything that I want
