What Happened BeforeA Poem by danalynTW: Description of Suicide and Self-Harm
And I felt it
The last of the last And the beginning of it How you lose feeling first by your wrists The rivers of unbounded possibilities Slowing your heartbeat down Then your breaths quicken, The last of the last of Air shared between me, and you I felt it all My swirling, explosive emotions combating for one last influence Before settling in a strong, strange, calmness
One I never felt in a long time I felt my memories pressing incessantly on my withering eyelids Faces and feelings and ideas and experience, everything Everything that told of a life before. My feet tingled slightly and goosebumps appeared on my forearms The light shone by the bathroom mirror, the tell-tale signs of the last Sunrise I huffed and puffed quietly, the blood finally slowing Slowing...to a stop And my eyes closed like they had before; When I laid in contemplation, stood in frozen fear, or blushed from the absurdity of life And I never felt them Open again ... © 2023 danalyn |
