To a Girl Who Deserves EverythingA Poem by Dana Alsamsam
One wish. Just one.
To take your pain and fold it into origami paper cranes, quarter your past in quarters and corners and checkerboards, bleed your scars into our own healing voids. One wish. to take just a small fraction of your hurt and store it in our hearts so we can be strong and weak and strong and scarred together. because one person can only fit so many bloody razor blades in their mausoleum soul. but pain does not transcend our human boundaries and you are strong. when the world tries to break your back you will grow a stronger spine. when it feels like the walls are caving in around everything you will push them back out. when the tunnel looks endless you will find the light and when the marks on your skin turn white and only visible in sunlight we'll be here at the end of everything to admire your tiger stripes, your battle scars, and run to the front lines together to fight our next battle.
