EventualnessA Poem by Dana Alsamsam
All of the beacon stars
In the violet blanket of the night sky Turned into airplanes and cigarette butts. All of the shiny cars In the menagerie car dealerships Turned into cardboard boxes Driving endlessly to nowhere All of the pretty summer dresses In the closet Turned into floating hospital gowns And the red polka dots Turned into crumbs and got brushed Like ash onto the floor. All of the lilies Laced in summertime hair Turned into Medusa's snakes. The quiet squeak Of the window opening in the night Turned into shreaks and cries Of the world's destruction But she knew it would happen Eventually (Again)
