AnyoneA Poem by Dana Alsamsam
"If it's not the style my friends are wearing,
I won't wear it!" "Why would you want to wear the same thing As everybody else?" "For some reason, I decided I don't like Being different" My eight year old sister shrugs and prances away Ponytail swinging, shining auburn in the sunlight, Smiling blankly. She forgets that the grass tickling The spaces in between her toes is a feeling She should love forever. The chains link around her ankles Attaching her to a cloned shadow, And I watch as she grows up and becomes "Herself" or everyone else or anyone.
