Itch

Itch

A Poem by Dana Ferguson
"

Sometimes we may overthink things, and wonder if it's worth chasing

"
Some thoughts are like bug bites,
some leave and some will stay.
The ones that stay can fade,
or slowly cause dismay.
These I know to be unkind,
no matter good nature or good mind.
The itch will need a remedy,
tell him or myself is a mystery.

Those pesky lingering itches. Always in places you can't reach to scratch and always end up rattling about inside your head. It may be cosmic alignment that made me notice this, because I have not long woke up from a dream where I was convinced when I woke that I was married to someone I hadn't seen, heard of or thought about for 20 years. The panic carried on for a full minute after I woke too. So it just shows you, that some itches return even after all that time has passed.
Great write. Words capture perfectly that inescapable itch.

Yep, another good one. I like the simplicity.
As has been mentioned, the comparison to an itch is superb. There are those particularly aggravating itches - either by intensity or location, or both, that can raise up a level of insanity such that you are left tearing at your own skin. Some thoughts behave the same way. Some can intrude into your day to such of level of distraction.
Thanks again. Nice piece.

There is no known spray or cream to make that itch go away...
Short verses always say the most.
