Turn Around

Turn Around

A Poem by Dana Ferguson

Lost in my mind,
wrong the whole time.
I mistook it for another,
this feeling for my lover.
Chasing in opposite directions,
finding clues failing inspections.
Suddenly a light caress,
a kiss on top of my head.
He never stopped since this started,
clues were long misread.
Stop.
Turn around.
We're both where we are,
I'm no longer mislead.

Another nice write.
Speaks to often there being a little reserve, a bit of self-preservation in relationships, that hint of suspicion that is awakened by the most innocuous things. Then the misinterpretation -"lost in my mind". We all have the capacity to get our heads to tell us anything we want it to, and then discover that the reality is different.
Thank you. I enjoyed it.

Relationships often mislead. Two minds share and experience that relationship, but are always more than the sum of its parts. I love the words used in this piece, it speaks to places I have found myself in...Lost in my mind...chasing in opposite directions. Each relationship unique and more complex than we can ever imagine. Great write.
