Scene 1 En-Suite Bathroom

Eddie:
(voiceover)
My name is Eddie Davis. Last year I was living a normal life at home, with my brother Richie Davis. But one day my brother went off to work and never came back. I had received a phone call from a mystery man telling me that he had captured Richie and was holding him hostage and that the only way I could save him was to kill a man called Anthony. I met up with two of his associates, James Farrie & Mark Peters who gave me instructions how to complete the task. I eventually found out that it was nothing but a sick game. There was no Anthony. Instead, I ended up killing my own brother in a deserted mansion in Hooton. It took me an entire year but I finally discovered who was behind the game. A man called John Bailey. He was the mystery voice on the phone and now, I was going to find him. Somehow, someway.

June 11^th 2007

 
(EDDIE is shaving in the bathroom. His mobile phone rings. He answers it)

 

 Eddie:
Hi Steve! How’s it goin’?

 

 Eddie:
(voiceover)
Steve was my best friend.

 

 Steve:
(voice)
Hey I’m alright thanks. Listen! I think we might be able to find out where John Bailey is.

 Eddie:
What? How?

 Steve:
(voice)
 We don’t know exactly where he is or what he looks like yet but we know he has two associates.

 Eddie:
(angry)
James Farrie & Mark Peters?

 Steve:
(voice)
Yeah! How’d you know?

 Eddie:
I had to meet up with them before. Where are you now? Do you know where they are?

 Steve:
(voice)
I'm at West Kirby beach. The guy I think I’ve spotted is Mark. He’s average height, dark hair and seems to love his cigars.

 Eddie:
Yeah that’s him alright. What’s he doing?

 

Steve:
(voice)
He’s just standing by a gate and seems to be waiting for someone.

Eddie:
Right. I’m on my way. Stay where you are! If he moves then follow him and let me know where you go. Thanks Steve! Speak to you later.

 (End of call. Eddie puts on his leather jacket and quickly leaves the bathroom and the house.)

 

 Scene 2 – Thurstaston Beach

 Eddie:
(voiceover)
I arrived at Thurstaston beach shortly afterwards. I met up with Steve and just as he said, Mark was standing round the corner…waiting.

 

 Eddie:
Alright Steve.

 Steve:
 Your just in time. Look.

 Eddie:
(voiceover)
Another man suddenly appeared from the opposite side. This time it was James. Both men walked onto the beach and disappeared round the corner.

 

 Eddie:
Come on let’s follow.

 Eddie:
(voiceover)
James and Mark had walked to a quieter spot on the beach. James went behind a rock and picked up a black bag and gave it to Mark. Both men began talking.

 

 James:
Right, here. It’s all there for him given from the last client. Take it to him.

 (Mark opens the bag while James continues talking)

 

 I have to go and deliver the rest of the goods to Laurence and Mac. We’ll meet again in

(looks at his watch)

3 hours. You remember where right?

 Mark:
Yeah no problem.

 James:
Good. I’ll see you later then.

 Eddie:
Steve, go and follow James and make sure he doesn’t see you. If anything happens, contact me.

 Steve:
I'm on it!

 (Mark turns his back and then takes out a map from his pocket. Eddie sneaks up behind him)

 

 Mark:
(talking to himself)
Hmmm now if I go down this road and turn left and then follow the road up until…

 (Eddie taps Mark on the shoulder. He turns and is punched hard in the face)

 

 Mark:
UGH! AGH!

Eddie:
Hello Mark. Long time no see.

 Mark:
What the f**k? Oh s**t!

 (Mark went for his gun. Eddie grabbed his arm and forced the gun from him and then kicking him in the stomach twice)

 

 AGH! UGH!

(Eddie kneels down and opens the bag. Stacks of cash is inside.

Eddie:
(voiceover)
The bag was full of money. There must have been over 5 million pounds.

 

 Eddie:
Nice case of cash you got here Mark! Care to tell me what it’s all for?

 Mark:
Screw you!

 (Eddie kicks him another 2 times in the stomach)

 

 AGH! UGH!

 (Eddie now gets out his gun and aims it at him)

 

 Eddie:
I don’t need this f*****g s**t from you Mark. You fucked around with me the last time we met and it won’t happen again. WHERE IS THIS MONEY GOING TO?

 Mark:
(still in pain)
Ugh. It’s for the boss.

 Eddie:
John Bailey?

 Mark:
Yes.

 Eddie:
What’s the money for?

 Mark:
I swear I don’t know. He said no questions, no answers.

Eddie:
Where is Bailey? Where are you meeting James in 3 hours?

 Mark:
At the deserted mansion in Hooton. The boss will be there.

(Eddie picks up the black bag and begins to walk away)

 

 Eddie:
I’ll take the money to him personally.

 (Mark suddenly takes a knife from his pocket and runs towards Eddie. Eddie turns and shoots him)

 

 Mark:
AGHHHHHHHHHHH!

 Eddie:
(voiceover)
I didn’t want to kill him. Killing my own brother was bad enough but Mark left me no choice. I now finally knew where John Bailey was. And now…I was coming for him.

 Scene 3 – Hooton Mansion

 Eddie:
(voiceover)
I tried contacting Steve to help me out but he wasn’t answering his phone. Guess I was on my own. I just hoped he managed to catch James beforehand.
(pause)
I cut through the side of the mansion like I’d done once before. I put down Bailey’s bag of money behind the big tree.

John Bailey is standing looking out of the front bedroom window, smiling. Eddie enters through the back of the big tree.

Eddie:
(voiceover)
(pause)
As I began walking slowly towards the mansion I noticed that the place had changed a lot since the last time I was here.
(pause)
Unlike the last time, I was expected. A gunshot was fired near the side of the building. It was James. He’d obviously given Steve the slip but it still didn’t explain why he wasn’t answering his phone. James ran round the back. I knew his game, he wanted me to follow him. It was probably a trap, I decided to go round the other side and surprise him.
(pause)
Lucky for me, a door at the back was open. It lead into a games room. There was a large snooker table and a dartboard among other things. Just then…it all went dark.

(James knocks Eddie out)

Scene 4 – Hooton Mansion Outside Conservatory

Eddie:
(voiceover)
When I awoke I was back outside in the garden. I was tied up on a bench, and right there in front of me was James holding my gun and a knife which he put in his coat pocket. On the floor next to him was Steve, and standing by was another man I’d not seen before…this was John Bailey. I couldn’t tell if Steve was dead or alive. He was in a really bad state. Those b******s had really fucked him up.

Eddie:
Ugh. STEVE.

John:
Well, well, well…if it isn’t Mr Davis, ha, ha, ha, ha. It’s an honour to finally meet you in person.

Eddie:
Is he alive?

John:
Alive and well Mr Davis but soon he’ll be joining your brother that YOU killed.

Eddie:
F**k you! You prick! You TRICKED me into killing him.

John:
Ha, ha, ha, ha it was…The Basic Plan wouldn’t you say so?

Eddie:
Why? Why did you make me do it! Why kidnap Richie?

John:
Your brother meddled in our affairs. James and Mark were discussing some business one day and, well your brother got involved, the complete fool! He knew too much about our affairs so I had my boys follow him to the pub one night and kidnap him. He told us everything about himself and the Davis family so I made The Basic Plan ha, ha, ha, ha.

Eddie:
He was the only family I had. Your gonna pay for this Bailey.

James:
Shut up!

(James punches Eddie hard in the face)

Eddie:
Ugh.

John:
Now, onto business. It has come to my attention that you have something that belongs to me.

Eddie:
What?

John:
My money that was supposed to be delivered to me by Mark. Where is it? I know you have it somewhere.

(While this talk is going on. Eddie slowly cuts away at the ropes tied to his wrists using the edge of the bench)

 

Eddie:
Piss off.

(James hits Eddie again and aims a gun at Eddie’s head)

John:
If you don’t tell me where my god damn money is then I’ll have James blow your f*****g head off!

Eddie:
Ugh! Alright! The money is under that tree at the bottom of the garden.

(John looks at James)

John:
Go and get it.

(James goes to the tree and brings him the money. John checks the bag)

John:
Good. It’s all here. Well that will be all Mr Davis, it’s time to finish the job. Now, who do you think we should kill first James?

James:
We could kill his friend first. It would be a nice way for him to go seeing as he’s unconscious.

John
Ha, fine by me! Go ahead. You know I don’t enjoy killing as much as you do.

(They both laugh)
 
Oh, but leave Eddie for Mark to kill when he gets here. I’m sure he wouldn’t want to miss that.

Eddie:
Mark’s dead.

James/John:
What??

(At this point, Eddie breaks his arms free unnoticed by the 2 men)

Eddie:
(laughing)
I killed him.

(James moves away from Steve and aims the gun at Eddie’s head)

James:
YOU DID WHAT?

(Eddie knocks the gun out of his hand and quickly goes into James’s pocket, takes out his knife and stabs him. James collapses. Eddie uses the knife to cut the rope tied to his feet. John rushes to pick up the gun and is about to shoot Eddie as he rolls out of the way a few times. The gun fire’s 4 times as then Eddie charges towards him, they are struggling to aim the gun at each other. In the end, John overpowers Eddie and throws him to the ground)

 

John:
(standing over him, aiming the gun)
So much for that! You pathetic twat. And guess what? This is the last bullet. Lucky me ha, ha, ha, ha!
Goodbye Edward Davis.

Eddie:
It’s EDDIE.

(Eddie kicks John in the balls, gets up and as he does, John goes to shoot him again. Eddie grabs his arm, twists it causing him to drop the gun and then throws him over his shoulders. Eddie picks up his gun.

Eddie:
This is for you…Richie.

(He aims the gun and shoots him. John dies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Hmm...Lucky me!

 

 

 

 

 

Eddie:
(voiceover)
Bailey was now dead. I’d done what I had set out to do. I avenged my brother’s death.
(pause)
 When I went over to where Steve was lying, John’s bag of money had gone, and what was worse was that James was nowhere to be seen. Blood was on the floor near to where the bag was.

 

Eddie:
Damn.

Scene 5 - Inside Hooton Mansion

A Few Hours Later

 

Steve:
(waking up)
Ugh.

(Eddie enters)

Eddie:
Welcome back Steve.

Steve:
Where am I?

Eddie:
Hooton Mansion. You were unconscious.

Steve:
What happened?

Eddie:
 Mark is dead and so is John Bailey.

Steve:
How?

 

Eddie:
Well, after I left you at the beach, I found out that Mark was supposed to deliver over 5 million pounds, at least that much, in cash to Bailey, probably some business deal, I don’t know what for. I killed Mark and brought the cash here, but I was knocked out and tied up and we were about to be killed but I managed to break free. I finally saw who he was Steve…I saw John Bailey and now he’s dead, I did it for Richie but…James survived. I don’t know where he is. But I swear this isn’t over and I will end this game once and for all. Anyway, get some rest.

 (Eddie begins to leave the room)

 

Steve:
Eddie?

(he turns around)

Do you think you’ll see him again someday?

Eddie:
Yes…yes I do.

(He leaves the room and shuts the door)

Eddie:
Someday…
