Scene 1 – Kitchen

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

It was a basic plan, short and simple. He said there’d be no questions, no answers. Just one fool proof plan where nothing could go wrong.

 

The Basic Plan: Kill Anthony.

 

(pause)

And so my story begins. It all started a couple of months ago. It was Sunday morning, June 11^th 2006. My brother Richie and I were getting ourselves ready for work.

 

(Richie Enters the kitchen)

 

Richie:

So what time do you finish work today Eddie?

 

Eddie:

Well that kinda depends. Hopefully it won’t be too busy tonight.

 

Richie:

Ok. Well knowing you you’ll probably end up working late as usual. I’ll probably be out with my mates at the pub tonight if I'm not here. Anyway I'm off to work Eddie. I’ll see you later.

 

Eddie:

Sure thing Rich. Seeya tonight.

 

(Blackout)

 

Scene 2 – Computer Room

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

Unfortunately Richie was right. I ended up working late that night at the office. Everything was great but that’s when it happened…

 

(Phone Rings)

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

I answered the phone.

 

Eddie:

Hello?

 

Mystery Voice:

Am I speaking to Edward Davis?

 

Eddie:

It’s Eddie and what’s it to ya?

 

Mystery Voice:

You’re going to complete a task for me Mr Davis.

 

Eddie:

Oh and why’s that?

 

Mystery Voice:

(laughing)

Because otherwise you will never see your brother Richie ever again.

 

Eddie:

What? Who the hell is this? What the f**k do you want?

 

Mystery Voice:

You’re going to have a little talk with my two associates, James Farrie and Mark Peters. I want you to meet up with them. There will be no questions, no answers. Just one fool proof plan where nothing could go wrong. The Basic Plan: Kill Anthony.

 

Eddie:

Who the bloody Nora is Anthony?

 

Mystery Voice:

You will meet with them at noon tomorrow at Eastham Rake Station. Come alone and don’t be late or your brother will die! That will be all Mr Davis ha, ha, ha, ha!

(End of call)

 

Eddie:

S**t!

 

(Eddie closes his briefcase, switches off the computer and goes out of the office turning the light out as he leaves)

 

(Blackout)

 

Scene 3 – The Meeting Point

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

The next morning I got ready for the meeting. I had no choice but to do as the mystery guy said or Richie was gonna be stone cold killed. I took my gun with me for backup. There was no telling who these guys were or what they were capable of. I took my chances, left home, got in the car, got goin’.

 

(pause)

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

It seemed like forever but I finally arrived at Eastham Rake Station. 12 noon exactly and true to the mystery man’s words his two associates were there waiting on top of the hill. James Farrie (pause) and Mark Peters. James was carrying a briefcase and Mark was lighting up a cigarette.

 

Eddie:

You’re the associates James & Mark right?

 

Mark:

Yeah that’s right. So you’re the guy the boss told us about? Edward Davis?

 

Eddie:

It’s Eddie.

 

Mark:

(sarcastically)

Yeah, yeah sure!

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

The men smiled wickedly. Something was not right about this.

 

Eddie:

Listen I don’t wanna any funny business from you guys you got that? Just get to the point.

 

 James:

Of course not to worry! This is just simply business it’s nothing personal.

 

Eddie:

Just tell me what the hell this is all about! Who is this Anthony guy?

 

James:

Anthony is the richest man in town. He lives in Hooton out in the countryside. The boss is Anthony’s agent and he wants you to take him out so that he can gain access to his bank account files and claim all his money which he rightfully deserves.

 

(James opens the briefcase)

 

Mark:

In here is a strategy we planned out for you. His house is surrounded by surveillance cameras, alarms, security lights, you name it! But there is an easy way to break in. There is a red door at the side of the house that gives you access to the basement. We have everything you need. This key will open the side door so you should have no trouble getting inside and this key opens Anthony’s room. He normally locks it at night. Also a torch to help you find your way, an alarm code and this mobile phone in case something goes wrong.

 

James:

We assume that you have some sort of weapon to do this deed?

 

Mark:

When you are inside the basement you’ll find some stairs leading up and there on the right you will see the alarm system right in front of you. Just type in the code and you will shut off the alarm.

 

James:

Then find Anthony’s room. It’s on the middle floor the first bedroom on your right at the top of the stairs. Get in and kill him! Simple as that. The best time to do this will be after 10pm as security won’t be as tight. You must kill him immediately though because if he sees you trust me everything will go wrong.

 

Eddie:

And then my brother better be set free or I promise you there will be hell to pay!

 

Mark:

(smiling)

Oh he’ll be set free all right! Don’t worry! It’s the basic plan.

 

(James gave Eddie the briefcase and both men leave)

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

The associates gave me the briefcase and left. I didn’t know who this Anthony guy was but I knew that if I was to get my brother back I would have no choice but to kill him. The Basic Plan: Kill Anthony.

 

(Eddie watched the men drive off and then left himself)

 

(Blackout)

  

Scene 4 – Hooton Mansion

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

I arrived at the scene just after 10pm. I parked my car down the road away from the house and then made my way in through the back garden.

(pause)

This was Anthony’s house all right. It was a mansion. And just as the boys said security was light. I made my way to the side door discreetly.

(pause)

There was something really strange goin’ on. There were no surveillance cameras, no guards. Something was up. I used the key and went in.

(pause)

 

I wouldn’t be needing the briefcase anymore.

 

Eddie:

5217.

(Alarm beeps off)

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

The alarm system was now off.

(pause)

There were no guards at all. The place was completely dead. Before finding Anthony’s room I thought what the hell, why not take a look around the place first.

(pause)

Most of Anthony’s rooms were locked. The main lounge looked to be recently refurbished, the sofa’s and surfaces neatly polished. An expensive TV, a Sky box and a DVD player laid on top of a cabinet. But the main thing that caught my eye was a printed picture that was on the floor at the back of the room.

(pause)

It was a picture of two men both probably in their mid to late 20’s. I wasn’t sure who they were but one of them could have possibly been Anthony.

 

(Eddie puts the picture in his pocket, leaves the room and now heads upstairs)

 

Eddie:

This must be the room.

 

(He quietly unlocks the door and slowly walks in and sees a figure lying on the bed. He switches on the light and quickly shoots his gun three times. He then pulls the sheets off the bed)

 

Eddie:

(shocked)

Oh my god no! NO! THIS CAN’T BE HAPPENING!!!

 

(Richie lies on the bed dead)

 

Eddie:

RICHIE! RICHIEEEEE!

 

Eddie:

(voiceover)

There was nothing I could do. Richie was dead. I had killed my own brother.

 

(Mobile phone rings. Eddie answers it)

 

 

Mystery Voice:

Ha, ha, ha, ha well done Mr Davis!

 

Eddie:

YOU B*****D!!! WHY? WHERE THE HELL IS ANTHONY?

 

Mystery Voice:

Ha, ha, ha, ha you fool! There is no Anthony! There never was! I tricked you! I tricked you into killing your own brother ha, ha, ha, ha although I must say you played the game splendidly! You really are a true perfectionist. After all it was the basic plan ha, ha, ha, ha.

 

(Eddie hangs up)

 

Eddie:

I’ll find you! Whoever you are. I will NOT let this go away until I do.

 

(Blackout)
