Painting Realities

Painting Realities

A Poem by Liam

My lines have blurred and mixed with the rest of the paint,
These massive swirls of black and white that twirl into grey.
I stare down the details and get lost in thought,
One by one they dance in a circle for me.
My past is now in my present and my future is long gone,
I can say that I've looked ahead and I don't like what I see so I avoid it.
The deep colors of my life have dulled but they still hold the opportunity to be renewed again,
New adventure awaits but the feeling in my stomach reflects uncertainty and anxiety.
At least I'll have my dog,
A fierce companion to the captain.
She naps all day but every once in a while sits up in search for attention,
My faithful companion to weather the storm I'm steering into.
Life seems to have a small bit of light when you have a friend such as this,
One who stays with you as only an animal does.
But back to my reality,
My time comes now.
Who knows what lies in wait,
What creatures will make themselves known from the dark.
Fear is a funny thing,
I feel it but I haven't let it stop me yet.
I live on the plank overseeing the dark abyss of the unknown,
I live for the moment where I jump but I don't know where I'll end up.
