Out InsideA Poem by Liam
There was an instant,
A flash of quickly paced time. It was in that moment that I saw the ghost of myself in that reflection, The hair pinned back and what wasn't was blown to the side. A ghostly figure that seemed to look happy, No smile adorned her face but her eyes shone as if she were. Someone I had seen a million times looking back from different surfaces, She looked like a content stranger on the brink of the starting line. Now I sit beside her on the bus, Never making eye contact but proud to see she's writing these words. We take breaks between the lines to stare out the window and admire the clouds, They've formed into the opposite color we feel inside today. I count the cars that pass by and share a couple inside jokes with her, Living in privacy and to ourselves. Hard to believe that she, is me, But true happiness is hard to believe.
