A Poem by Liam

I think the mountains have swallowed me up again,
Nostalgia fills me and my feet walk me through broken branches.
Sadness suddenly leaves my side as I trudge through the snow,
My destination is the mountaintop.
Here, my demons can't breathe at this altitude,
I leave them at the bottom snarling at the mountainside.
I climb and make footprints alongside the deer and rabbits,
The slope beginning to get steeper making me more determined.
I smile to myself as I make this clumsy climb,
The clouds opened just enough to shed light on the path ahead.
The thoughts of my past adventures are sent to me on a direct line,
Things that make me want to laugh and cry at the same time.
I make it to the top in victory,
And my eyes take in the wondrous valley.
