Train Wrecked Heart

Train Wrecked Heart

A Poem by Liam

My headlight was shining bright as I saw all of the other trains pass me by.
I was only looking for another coal-burning heart to race alongside me,
Then I saw you in the distant dark.
Our love brought us crashing together as we merged onto the same track.
We collided with such force and from the explosion,
A beautiful flame burst forth.
The smoke from our flame loomed over the surrounding valleys and people ran for cover.
Our trains carried cargo that weighed us down but they burned up in an instant.
The ash from the cargo suffocated the nearby peoples and they dug holes to escape.
The heat melted everything around us and welded our wheels together.
The destruction all around us made us slip and slide and hide our faces from the pain.
The fire dies down as time passed and we had nothing to build ourselves up with.
We felt ourselves crumbling into burnt ash as we blew away in separate directions.
I feel the wind pick up sometimes and I stretch out in your direction, ever so slightly,
But, I know that our crashing love can never live again.
