Masked Evils

Masked Evils

A Poem by Liam

What is love without hope?
Why can't I escape these two masked evils?
I have a good heart they say.
I would rather be cold hearted then heart broken as I am.
I wish to feel nothing
Rather than feel everything.
What's the point of having a big heart if you can't control it?
I'm ruled by my emotions and who is to stop that?
I can't escape you,
Foul heart.
I am my own worst enemy,
I am my own best friend,
I'm the only one who understands me.
What room does that leave for anybody else?
I'll fade with the seasons.
Maybe then,
Maybe then I'll find peace from these two masked evils.

An excellent poem of personal struggles. The mirror has two faces and the soul has two masks. I wish you well, dear poet, as you struggle with your masks.
