Song of the Storm Sublime

Song of the Storm Sublime

A Poem by Dalton

I’m nestled in the marigold moss
watching these clouds elope
and evading a chance to toss
unto any solemn hope.

White and black ivory keys
coax the piano strings.
We fulfill feeling anew;
the aquifer melody rings.

My pianist fingers swiftly move
with a lightning tempo.
I think of your glorious grooves;
I rehearse our momento.

Thy lily pads are opal clues.
Thereby these waters we belong.
Your hues of brilliant blues
cascade in this somber song.

I dry the wet wonder from your coat
and off of your storm covered face.
The hammer hits the highest note
which waltzes with the booming bass.

The sounds of sublime serenity
and euphoria are no illness;
raindrops fall into a sapphire
pond of stillness.

From "nestling in marigold moss" to "raindrops falling into a sapphire pond of stillness," this poem is rife with beauty and tranquility. The sapphire is a stone of wisdom, royalty, prophecy and Divine favor. I love the use of this at the very end, as if everything falls down and ends in this sapphire pond of stillness, signifying the height of celestial hope and faith. I also read a bit of eroticism into this piece, but perhaps that's just me. Beautiful!

My pleasure. I enjoyed reading your poetry tonight.
this reminds me of what it might be like for Billy Joel's piano man on rainy night, after hours.

hard to name favorite lines, but the entire last stanza is so wickedly good.
