Crush

"do not develop a crush." i told my brain

"it is stupid and you'll only regret it"

and for a while, I listened.

but it's so hard not to notice the crinkle by your eyes when you laugh

and the way your hands move absentmindedly

and the look you get when you're drawing

"do not develop a crush."

so i try to ignore the way you seem to hover wherever i am 

and i try to swallow the feeling i get in my stomach when my phone lights up with your name

and i tell my heart to stop fluttering

"do NOT develop a crush."

but i see your face when you look at her

and the way it changes when she looks away

and i can tell you wish you never left

because your diamond eyes give it away

do not develop a crush

but by now

i'm afraid it's too late.
