I am

I am

A Poem by Dakota Jean

I am nothing more than a number programmed in the scale.
My name is 90.2lbs. I am only a figure, a weight lumped into one mass. I am the negative space between my thighs, I am the concave arc of my stomach, I am the jutting bones in my arms and collar bones.
I am nothing more than a number programmed in the scale.
I am the secrets, the whispers in the halls. I am the grumble in my stomach that I hush away. I am the wind that blows just enough to mess my hair. I am an overlooked pier jutting straight out into the ocean.
I am nothing more than a number programmed in the scale.
I am the hunger that won't subside, the ever growing gap between reality and imagination. I am a warped funhouse mirror. I am the days without food I am the puke smell on my fingers that you cannot wash off. I am everything and I am nothing.
I am nothing more than a number programmed in the scale.
