family:we are not a genre

family:we are not a genre

A Poem by man-in-coat

My walls scream for peace

The floor reeks of fights and unending fits

Created by love hate wars

Just cause you say you love me doesn't mean you do

Four letters that bring a fake relationship together

Time growing on them like mold on fruit

Slamming doors swing open and close

Three kids seeing their mom twisted around

Trying to ring out the her imperfections

A father working long hours

Giving no time to see his wife is drowning in her sorrows

Buying time at the local grocery store

Baby sister fighting over the right to call her mom her idol

The older brother fighting urges to cut out the pain his life

He works long hours at the parenting plant trying to raise two girls

He balances his life with the normality of the normal genre

Turning two lives into one when his dad leaves his mom in hericane

Making the college kid pick up the broken pieces of his so called family

Trying to make dinner with the odds and ends of broken memories

Four years later and the pain of a forgotten family leaves imprints into three children

Two girls with the start of a college life bringing in the reality life into their ungrateful hands

Four years later the once strong older brother lives with a brittle heart

He lives in a small apartment along road to suicide

Hands shaking with fears and unstable choices

Living like lies were the truth

The mom who raise herself with scars that never healed

Ended up drinking her problems away to the end of the road
