My Akinesia

Carried away by your poetic words

Honestly believed in your promises

Ignored what others say about you

Never thought they were somehow true.

Nurturing, loving, patient, you had it all

Again and again you made me fall

To forever, I thought we'll endure

Until everything seemed an endless torture

Lyrical lies left me wounded and bare

Loving you was a real-life nightmare

Akinesia! Let me go out of your snare.

Ah, when the lure of lyrical words are used as an entrapment of deceit and abuse, it then becomes a weapon by which it paralyzes (akinesia) its victims. Poetry should not be used that way, as this poem clealry demonstrates (unless I'm completely misinterpreting it!). Thank you for sharing!

Akinesia is an illness..like you are imprisoned under someone's shadow..due to that person's obsession, you become paralyzed..

..my definition was too metaphorical i guess..haha..but i actually defined it through my own literary interpretation, not (really) that technically medical..i found the term unique and so suitable to convey the poem's message..thanks a lot for your comments Sir! :)

Yes,I agree that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
However,you have to invest lots of care,nursing,exercise,dieting to make and maintain a beautiful figure.

I am actually a teacher by profession but currently I'm working as a government employee under the Engineering Services Division of the Philippine Ports Authority. I may not be teaching as of now, but I'm pursuing my Master's Degree in Educational Administration.

I agree that one has to make a lot of efforts to maintain one's beauty. However, for me, real beauty can only be seen through an individual's character. More to what meets the eyes is the kind of heart that person possesses. As quoted from the Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupery, "It is only through the heart that one can see rightly...what is essential is invisible to the eye." :)
