Staircase to Nowhere

Staircase to Nowhere

A Poem by Hebe

I saw him for the last time, as he started walking up the steps

He stopped and turned to look at me

We stared at each other, maybe for a few seconds

Understanding everything, but only silence echoed back in the empty staircase

 Our love had been rapturous

Our dreams transcending

Our lives intertwined and inseparable!

Then came ‘if’

If only we had the wisdom

If only we could have recognized the impending disasters

If only I didn’t feel that this moment had stopped time

engraving a feeling of death…… Forever!

when will my heart stop bleeding,

talons reaching into my memories

holding onto what had once been

 the love of my life.

'Staircase to Nowhere'
Hebe,
How do we process loss of a loved one, To bring the person back? The staircase is a fitting and descriptive setting for the last meeting of souls as one goes where the other cannot follow. Your process of experience within above piece speaks volumes. Processing and having a place to express one's feelings and to work through the bitter and sweet feelings of memories layers from a past relationship of this kind is so important. Thank you for writing this brave piece.
Blessings,
Kathy

This is a deep piece, full of emotion and the biggest question we can ask ourselves. The what if? Love is the hardest thing to lose, by death or by choice. Love this!

Thank you for your thoughts.
Looking back: sometimes we analyse too much, but then, when in a sadness or worry, emotions drown logic. There's no real moment to sum up a relationship. Your visual is exactly right for the meandering, well voiced words, random but raw feelings. Holding on is a slippery slide to... want. Perhaps.

It was deep and a bit emotional read. holding onto what had once been the love of my life the only desire of a true lover. You portrait the picture perfectly.

haha....Yes it is :) Welcome
We each have a love of a lifetime, don't we? How desperately we cling to it, as the years take us further from its reach. But we shall long remember its embrace and the joy it brought us.

A most profound read, Hebe!

Wow, this poem took me to a place.... I can't elaborate, it would take years and years of back story. This made me very thoughtful.
