Staircase to NowhereA Poem by Hebe
I saw him for the last time, as he started walking up the steps
He stopped and turned to look at me
We stared at each other, maybe for a few seconds
Understanding everything, but only silence echoed back in the empty staircase
Our love had been rapturous
Our dreams transcending
Our lives intertwined and inseparable! Then came ‘if’
If only we had the wisdom
If only we could have recognized the impending disasters
If only I didn’t feel that this moment had stopped time
engraving a feeling of death…… Forever!
when will my heart stop bleeding,
talons reaching into my memories
holding onto what had once been
the love of my life. © 2017 HebeReviews
