FreeA Poem by Jenny-Jen-JenWhat it's like to feel held in one spot, watching the world pass you by.Free
The soil beneath my roots
Is engrossing and gripping;
Tighter with each day passed.
I’m becoming one with the earth.
This spot in which I’ve been planted-
A cursed home for my heart:
So twisted and cold.
An unbreakable bond:
Natures hold on my being.
And all I want is to be
Free.
Free as the birds which land,
Making their temporary homes in my soul.
I want to soar away,
Without a care for what I leave behind:
Just as they leave me.
No longer chained to the ground,
Held in this spot.
I no longer wish to be a tree.
I wish to be free.
