The Beast Behind The BeautyA Poem by Jenny-Jen-JenA Beauty and the Beast tale, retold. The Beast Behind The Beauty A flower under glass is often beautiful, But given a wicked reason, a story will unfold. You see, her name means beauty; a perfect name for her. Her skin, a flawless peach. Her lips, a rosy red. She’s the daughter of an inventor, The image of desire. But her dreams escape the small town life, And she finds herself in the midst of fantasy. She comes about a castle filled with lovely hosts. But what she doesn’t know is what’s lurking all around. A monster covered in fur; his teeth, razor sharp. He’s the villain, and the kidnapper, Her father, taken hostage. But, she’ll wine and dine, and listen to their song. She’ll do what is asked, if he’s set free. A brave savior; not just a beauty. A sacrifice perhaps, but she’ll fall in love. The book is not quite like its cover. However, time will make fools of them. A flower can only bloom so long before its rose petals wilt. And little is known about that rose under glass. A little push, and a little smile, And the beast will come around. Maybe he’s the beauty after all; The siren song of what this girl longs. A transformation of heart, And the last petal falling from a former beauty. Creation of the truth; a love like no other, Can break the glass, the spell held on this tale, And each can live in happiness forever after. © 2010 Jenny-Jen-JenAuthor's Note
