True self

She sits there, just sits there

in the still of the night

Silence fills her ears

darkness covers her eyes

and a lock covers her heart

She feels alone

has been for years

 

Her issue is not being shy

But fear to let others in

For she knows that she is fragile

and her confidence easily dimmed

 

She wants to believe her friendships are true

but knows her friends could care less

she still puts on a smile

and laughs for a while

 

watching everyone fall in love

and wishing she could too

dreaming of a knight in shinning armor

who will never come true

 

In the end,

sjhe acts like nothing is wrong

hidding

masking

her true self
