Without You

Without You

A Poem by Phillip Francis

Abruptly woken from a sound sleep.

Absorbing terror.

Perspiration floods my brow.

Hard to breathe, without you.

Days drag on, nights never ending.

Senselessly traveling  through mundane tasks.

A walking corpse.

Purpose escapes me, without you.

Mind reeling, body stagnant.

Dismayed heart, lacking essence.

Plagued soul, flawed courage.

Terrified of moving forward, without you.

Hallucinations conquer reality.

Another cog in the wheel.

Desire fleeting as civilization evolves.

Existence is meaningless, without you.

Attempts to persevere are futile.

Inadequate effort precedes continuous oversight.

Excuse my demeanor.

I can't go on, without you.

You have captured that feeling of emptiness and desperation very well in this poem. Emotions are pleading from this page. I unfortunately have experienced these same feelings before, it is no fun at all. Nice write.

A very moving poem. The pain and despair are strong but good reason. Sometimes we just can't find a reason to keep going when part of us has died. That special someone in our life, a spouse or a child.

You're most welcome.
Excellent work! This shows your genuine need and want for this person; without them, is nothing. Very visual as well. Thanks for sharing!
