Urgent Clemency of Stress

Urgent Clemency of Stress

A Poem by Phillip Francis

I’m tired of stress.

My heart is heavy and life is a mess.

Slowly drowning, gasping for air.

Searching for release, it's difficult to bare.

I have no answers, no plan of action.

Slipping away, it’s hard to find traction.

Bargaining for relief, a moment of calm.

My chest is expanding, a ticking time bomb.

Day by day, they layers get thicker.

Adding more weight and rapidly sicker.

Helplessly watching my soul’s corruption.

Can I find solace, before my eruption?

Phillip, very impressive writing! This poem has excellent rhymes and flow. I am sorry to hear of your struggles, but it truly will get better. :)

I just listened to the song "stressed out" by 21 pilots - your poem could have been a second verse!

Just one constructive observation - Rhyming in poetry is tough, but it does the break the flow when one starts with a "perfect rhyme" without continuing it throughout (calm and bomb, corruption, eruption) Yes, I know I sound pedantic with the last example, which is a near rhyme, but after all the great effort to make all the others rhyme perfectly, it does add a perception of a finish touch which usually sounds just right.

Of course, free writing is as much fun......but one has to be in the right mood for it.

Thanks for sharing!
